Short version

Day-one equipment list

These are the lines most house-wash and flatwork startups need. The example products are listings we read on PowerWash.com, a specialist pressure-washing store. They're examples to price the line, not picks; the same kind of gear is sold by other shops too.

The R-1400 line shows the smallest size's price; the page lists $14.47 to $47.47 depending on size.

Or a bundle

PowerWash.com sells a Weekend Warrior house-washing starter pack listed at $2,971.47 to $3,307.47 depending on options (listing, read Oct 30, 2026). Includes a 4 GPM / 4000 PSI machine (E4040HG direct drive or EB4040HG belt drive), an M5 X-Jet applicator with tank, attachments and cleaning agents, per the listing. We haven't compared every item in the bundle against buying the pieces separately, so check what's included against the list above.

Which machine size?

Our read, from the published numbers: a 4 GPM gas machine is a sensible starting point for paid driveway and house work, and the step up is a belt-drive or an 8 GPM skid once you're doing commercial flatwork every day. Belt-drive pumps run at lower RPM, which is why sellers pitch them for longevity; that's the seller's claim, not something we've measured. Homeowner-class machines (around 2.5 GPM with a consumer warranty) are cheaper but carry shorter warranties: Simpson's own pages list a 2-year consumer engine warranty on its MegaShot models versus 3-year commercial engine coverage on its PowerShot and Aluminum lines.
